Join the Artist Co-Op Monday, Feb 3rd from 7-9pm for a cross-section of what’s happening now in music in New York City, curated by composer/performer Elaine Romanelli.

Featuring:

Christine Lavin: “Poignant and hilarious” (NY Times) nationally touring acclaimed singer/songwriter

David S. Goldman: Award-winning world music guitarist and singer (Carnegie Hall, Irvington Town Hall Theater)

Dax Dupuy and Nerve Project Theatre Company: classically structured, bravery-centered musical theater

Erato A. Kremmyda: musical theater composer (Johnathan Larson grant, Fulbright scholar)

Irene Sankoff and David Hein: musical theater lyricist-composer writing team (Come From Away, My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding)

Julie Brown: Composer, vocalist, and a cappella artist (Lincoln Center, Central Park Summerstage)

Come a few minutes early to toss your name in the hat to perform in the open mic after the break!

Music Jam host Elaine Romanelli sings, tours, teaches, and writes music and lyrics. Recently she got to sing on syndicated radio (‘Folkstage’ in Chicago), stream online with author Deepak Chopra to his 2 million followers, and once she even got to sing in an amphitheater in Greece. New York: A Musical Memoir

Three years ago David S. Goldman and Charles R. Hale met and quickly realized they had a shared interest in New York history, their family histories and music. Having put on several smaller versions of this production, they are now presenting our first full-length version of this musical memoir in progress. Their stories will take us throught heir early love of music, family Christmases, their relationships with our fathers, discovery of girls, epiphanies and reflections on the struggles of our ancestors. They will also perform a variety of international and American music.

I'm the featured performer this week, singing original songs, and others by Mahalia Jackson, The Beatles, a Mexican folk song, a nice mix.

A Musical History of the Lower East Side

The American Irish Historical Society, 991 5th Avenue (80-81St), New York, NY

This special program produced by Charles R. Hale will present songs reflecting the historically rich ethnicity of the New York City’s Lower East Side. You’ll hear an all-star cast perform Irish laments, Yiddish and Ladino music, operatic and Neapolitan songs, German lied, jazz and blues, all representative of the ethnic groups who have passed through the Lower East Side. The show will also include images and historical narration provided by me.
